The CAFTA-DR Secretariat for Environmental Matters

The Secretariat for Environmental Matters (SEM) is an international organization created within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between the Dominican Republic, Central America and the United States of America (CAFTA-DR). This was is the first free trade agreement for the region that includes a chapter dedicated related to the environment (Chapter 17). In this regard, the SEM’s mission is to carry out the functions established in articles 17.7 and 17.8 of the CAFTA-DR agreement.
